Copper Slag

5-10 mesh copper slag is an extra coarse ferrosilicate abrasive, manufactured as a refined by-product from copper smelting operations. It is crushed, hydro-washed, de-slimed and precision screened to conform to ISO 11126-3 specification for copper slag blast media, separating undersized fines and oversized fragments to deliver a consistent coarse gradation that is rarely matched by standard garnet grades for one-pass blast projects.

This extra coarse copper slag is engineered for maximum aggression. Its highly angular, blocky grain geometry delivers far faster stripping speed than coarse garnet when tackling thick elastomeric coatings, built-up bitumen, heavy mill scale and deeply embedded corrosion. It creates a deep, rugged anchor profile designed for high-build protective linings and heavy-duty coating systems, making it the preferred economical choice for large open-site blasting where abrasive reclamation is not practical.

As a single-pass abrasive, it excels in cost-sensitive bulk blasting contracts. Compared to coarse garnet, copper slag offers a lower per-ton purchase price for massive surface preparation works. It contains negligible free silica, eliminating the severe respiratory hazards associated with crystalline silica sand blasting, and passes soluble salt testing to avoid salt contamination on steel substrates that could lead to premature coating failure.
