Product Details

20-40 mesh copper slag represents the fine-medium grade in our copper slag abrasive lineup, engineered for controlled light-duty blasting jobs where aggressive cutting power from 10-20 mesh or 5-10 mesh grades would over-texture or damage workpieces. This ferrosilicate media is triple washed, desalted and fractionally screened to tightly limit fine particle content, making it especially suited for automated blast cabinets and batch processing of manufactured steel parts.

This grade targets light adherent rust, thin mill scale, acrylic coatings, enamel and aged light primer layers. It delivers a shallow, repeatable anchor profile ideal for thin-film coatings, powder coating pre-treatment and high-gloss topcoat systems. Unlike coarser copper slag variants that prioritize fast stripping, 20-40 mesh copper slag focuses on profile consistency, lowering the risk of over-etching and minimizing grit embedment on smooth steel and alloy substrates. It reliably achieves Sa2.5 and Sa3 cleanliness standards without creating deep, irregular peaks that compromise the final cosmetic finish.

Compliant with ISO 11126-3, this copper slag maintains low soluble chloride and low free silica content. Its reduced fine fraction cuts down suspended dust inside enclosed blast rooms, improving operator visibility and reducing filter load on cabinet dust collection systems. It stands out as a cost-effective expendable alternative to fine garnet for high-volume component blasting where premium garnet pricing creates pressure on production budgets.

Key Features:
Fine-medium screened gradation, low fine content optimized for blast cabinet automation
Shallow, uniform anchor profile tailored for powder coating & thin film topcoats
Triple washed for ultra-low soluble chloride, ideal for high-finish corrosion protection systems
Gentle cutting action to remove light rust and thin coatings without substrate over-roughening
ISO 11126-3 compliant, low free silica, less dust build-up inside enclosed blast facilities
Economical single-use option for high-volume batch component pre-treatment
